[Retired] The Dark Knight (Regrade and Imax Restoration)

To be fair I was mostly joking and he might of not know the origins of the soundtrack. Once a project is out there, people are free to do what the want with it. That's the internet. My concern was mostly credit for you and Chris_solo who spent days working on that track for me (which was hours of checking). Like CSchmidlapp, I'm a big credit due guy also. And like CSchmidlapp said, his work was my jumping point of for this project (not to mention the materials he provided) so he deserves a fairly big chunk of the praise.

Speaking of credits: Wahajec is a really nice guy who uploads for me since I'm not able to do so (long story). And when I give him the NFO/description, I'm don't include credits for myself or any contributors. I don't have people connected directly to the work because some are uncomfortable with that. In fact, I really don't take credit on MS for any projects unless something needs to be explained or clarified. Wahajec is just being nice and doing what I asked by not including credits. I figure a simple search gets you the answers you need.

One thing I don't understand is this 16:9 IMAX like the BD?

To me, the lineage of sources, is important because it is the people. DarkKnight said he asked but Wahajec never mentioned any other sources. I'm not knocking either of them personally. I just think that if one "is" going to put any credits up, they should be the correct ones, or make them anonymous until asked. No harm, no foul. I think my comment was fairly gentile there anyways so all is well. We worked as a team ... that is my credit. Smile

Ive just re-read this thread again and I have not mentioned mass5160 who supplied me the HDTV rip that was a crucial piece of the research in terms of looking for the 35mm theatrical experience.

It contained all the IMAX scenes in there 2:35:1 variant, in HD. It also showed the color timing to be the same as the bluray.
While this project, or DarkKnight's did not use this specific source, and TServo's screener (that was supplied very kindly to me also) was really the contributing source in all our projects (If it's right color wise is still an on going discussion lol) It was a very important piece to the puzzle.

mass5160 also sent it through the post untouched on a BD, as his bandwith was limited. Legend Smile

Since it's been discussed so much, here is a comparison of this release and DarkKnight's:

Obviously, color timing is quite different, with PDB's seeming generally warmer and DarkKnight's being more heavy with the blues. DarkKnight's is also brighter and softer, seemingly to further mitigate the extensive EE.

I'd prefer PDB's version over that one still, the blue color seems to be a bit overkill, and his color timing just feels 'right' in my opinion with whole film's mood.

Thanks for the comparisons Falcon. It looks like he just went in different direction then me. I'm still trying to download that copy.

To be fair I did do a version that was bluer but not that extreme. It's in this thread somewhere. I also did that greener one a couple pages back based off the screener. CSchmidlapp is right when he says the look for DK is all over the place depending on what media your look at.

Mine was based off the Imax frames, some 35mm frames and the prologue. So warmer, greener and more yellow then his screener's bluer look. I was working on another version based off more 35mm frames (which was cooler) and trying to get an actual 35mm trailer to scan but I kind of put it aside since the remaster was coming. I think waiting for the remaster is best at this point.
