I have seen that your and many other projects here are trying to get colors close to the ones shown in cinema. Digital Cinema uses a color space of DCI P3 and analog film has a color space even bigger than that.
If I am not mistaken, the projects here end in the color space of blu-ray, which is REC.709 and much smaller than DCI P3. Are there any thoughts using a P3 color space for projects here?

It's an interesting idea but the problem is the original matieral is in 709 so converting and grading in p3 isn't going to make a lot more gradiants of colors magically appear. And although there is some benefit to doing that most people are watching these projects on a 1080p tv that's not capably of displaying p3.

It's just easier to use p3 or even rec2020 when there is more access to 4K matieral and more people have 4K tvs or at least computer displays capable of displaying the full color gamut.

You are absolutely right that P3 is something for the future. But since you are putting so much effort into your projects, it is maybe worth thinking about the colorspace of the future.
I think rec.709 is pretty limited. I color calibrated my projector first to 709 and was pretty disappointed how non colorful everything looked. Than I calibrated it to P3 and did some tweeking that color look more natural, even they are expanded from 709 (BD source) to P3.
That looked much better. Looking at native P3 material is even one step ahead of that color space upscaling.

I rather the media I have be in p3 if I'm going work in p3 but point taken.

HDR revisionist changes are not for me, but only really like begins so will wait and see as it's the most in need for a newer master, mind you this needs to use a 35mm neg for the non IMAX and not the DMR master

Hopefully we'll get a fresh 1080p blu ray at the same time.

Great news.
Im a big fan of all the films in the trilogy.
I hope for the 35mm constant aspect ratio with the IMAX version available as an extra feature.

Thanks for the heads up Zoidberg. Hoping it looks great. Dark Knight really needs it, same with BB which is soft, murky and badly encoded. Rises looks fine but the color might be off a little.

Listening to Nolan he seems quite enthused about the HDR as it has the latitude to better represent projected film. I can see them being dark. Dark.
