What are you watching?

I saw Dunkirk in 15/70, and I can definitely say it was more on the blue side.

I saw Dunkirk in plain old 2K DCP and it was, as PDB pointed out, very green in places. It surprised me that it was 2.20:1 considering it had been formatted for scope (for the 35mm prints).

My impression of the DCP was that Nolan refuses to participate. Most likely he finishes the film photochemically and leaves it for someone else to create the DCP based off the timed prints.

The film itself? It was okay. I suppose you'd call it a 'small scale' Nolan film.

Interesting stuff. Thanks for the info guys. And the confirmation as to what I saw. Seems like there might be, in fact, 2 color timings.

The Girls With All The Gifts: a fresh view onto the zombie world

Revolt: alien invasion in Africa; story is nice, CGI could be better, but I've seen worst even on big budget Hollywood productions, so...

Dead Season: started to watch, but can't finish it... too bad acting, filming etc. don't waste your time on this!

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets - I love The Fifth Element. It's certainly goofy, cornball, poorly written, etc but it has great actors in it's roles or at least good actors that are game for the antics. It's just a fun film. I was hoping Valerian would be a return to that type of film. It's not. It's pretty bad. Sadly it's boring, unengaging and worst of all poorly acted. All the actors seem to be bored and wooden or in the case of Cara Delevingne over there head. Say what you will about Milla Jovovich but at least she sold the Fifth Element. Clive Owen seems to be doing a bad Gary Oldman from Leon. Honestly, I struggled to stay awake. The positive is all the production design and SFX are on point. Too bad the characters aren't. 2/5

War for the Planet of the Apes- A series where the sequels are better then the original. It's hard to say if this is better or worse then the second as both are great. Serkis continues his great run as Caesar. Woody is great. The SFX are amazing. No real complaints. 4/5

The Monster Project - halfway between a documentary and a lost footage; very low budget, less-than-perfect SFX, unsatisfaying ending (to me), but all in all a nice attempt, even if not so well executed - 4/10

What Happened To Monday (a.k.a. Seven Sisters) - a sci-fi flick set in a dystopian future; I must admit I don't like so much Noomi Rapace, but she was really good here (and you can see her naked, too, but do not expect much...); very interesting story, a lot of action, good SFX... I've guessed the end twist like, five minutes in the film, but it's my fault! - 8/10 EDIT: quite some Star Wars reference sentences and/or parts of them.

I just came home with Alien: Covenant on Bluray w/ Collector's Fan Design T-Shirt. Saw this in the theater and I thought it was creepy. I'm going to be watching it tonight. I am so torn up and beat today from working and running around. I feel like melted tar.

Time for some relaxation without people.

Gremlin - to not be confused with Gremlins! The story is really nice, and the creature design is interesting; it's a pity both are bad executed; bad acting and a lot of boring/uninterested parts, laughable CGI effects, in particular in the last part; the only good piece is the "back story" narrated as animation, a-la Harry Potter 7... it could have been more effective retaining just the story and creature, with good actors, good CGI and push everything in a 10/15 minutes short. - 3/10

The Belko Experiment - how this little jem has slipped through my relentless research for new, exciting movies? Well, a psychological horror flick, with perfect actors, full of violence, blood, deads (but not only): you have been warned! If you can go past this, you'll find this a very fresh thriller; well, not completely brand new, but enough to keep you focused for the whole time! - 7/10

Kill Switch - finally a good sci-fi movie found between low budget ones; story is interesting, albeit not completely original (Fringe, anyone?) but still not usual, acting is convincing, CGI is very good, and almost all the film used the POV shot technique found on many videogames (sometimes it has some situations like Infamous or Prototype, even if they are not first-person shooter games, but I'm pretty sure it would reminds many other games) and few other movies (on Hardcore Henry of course, and partly on Doom); if you like Crank or Hardcore Henry, you'll probably like this as well, visually wise, but do not expect the same level of action of violence, though. - 7/10
P.S. I'd definitely make a fan edit of it, putting all the scenes in chronological order, and deleting few of non-POV shots near the end, so you would not be taken off the story with continuos switch between POV and normal shots.

Terminator 2: Judgement Day - Saw the 3D re-release. My thoughts on that are here: https://fanrestore.com/thread-1202-post-...l#pid34005. Otherwise as great a film then as it is now. 5/5
