Awesome psychedelic horror movie with Nic Cage. Maybe even the best 2019 movie (if it still counts as 2019). Not that there's much competition, but still. Comfy, beautiful and terrifying.

Thanks for the reminder, was intrigued from the first promo still I saw! Glad to hear its good too

Once in awhile Nicolas Cage is in a great movie, or should I say is great in a movie!

Mandy is a recent one that springs to mind.

I haven't seen Mandy yet, but I probably should. I think it might actually be pretty similar in spirit judging by the trailers. But I could be completely wrong.

Gemini Man:
What a waste of time! Just terrible. And I watched it @ 23.976 fps, yet it still looked so uncinematic, video-y and just plain ugly. Terrible script that must've been written in, what, 1992 and was never updated. Boring pacing, etc. Nothing to salvage there. Just watch Face/Off or Self/Less, you'll have a better time.

The Gentlemen:
Not been released yet, but thanks to my line of work, I watched it today. It's a good Guy Ritchie movie. He went back to his roots with a small scale British fun crime movie. It's not as good as Snatch, but still an enjoyable flick.

That's good to hear.

The Animal (2014)

After The Monster, again, I can't help myself to not watch another creature film. And, as the previous, it was mostly wasted time. Sure, some (few) scary moments, but apart them, the only good thing I found is the lack of those boring flashbacks... I'd not waste my time with it, unless you are that kind of person who should watch any and every title of a given sub-genre.

Aftermath (TV series) (2016)

The trailer arose some curiosity - even if I was sure it would have been a crappy series... and it was, but also funny, in its weird way. Do not expect good dialogs, acting, CGI. But at least story (albeit very strange) is original: take Z Nation and subtract zombies (more or less) and add many other odd things, like winged monsters, possessing demons, black holes etc. you know, the "usual" end-of-the-world kind. I add 1 point for the RV, but I detract 2 points for the cliffanger final... as no other season were produced, the end was... well, not a proper end!

Lights Out (2016)

Always looking for some film still not watched (yet), I stumbled upon this little gem. Not because it's a masterpiece, nor because it has an original story. But because it is really scary! And, very important IMHO, you have not to wait for half an hour (when you are lucky) to be scared, as it starts after the first minute! Tension present all time, pacing perfect, acting good, SFX effective, and strangely, a kid that I did not hate! Reccomended to anyone who is ready to jump on their seat (or couch)!

A Lonely Place To Die (2011)

A very good thriller, and not the usual boring story. Sure, protagonists often took the wrong decision, against normal logic - to me and my daughter, at least - but, apart this small fault, the rest is nice, starting from the beautiful sceneries at the beginning. The scary fact is, even if really improbable, the facts occured could be real...

7.5/10

Pet Sematary (2019)

Taken from Stephen King's book, and a remake of the 90s movie (that frankly I can't remember right now, but I promised myself to watch it again ASAP), it's a supernatural flick about a family which move to a rural house, and then... you got to watch it - even if I'm pretty sure 99% of the reader know what I'm talking about! Acting is quite good, but pacing is too slow sometimes. I liked the end (and appreciated also the alternate ending) and even if probably there will be none, it would be nice to see a sequel that starts from there.

Seventh Son (2014)

Switched on TV right at the beginning, and I decided to see what was about: witches, wizards, creatures... good, let's give it a chance! And it was pretty good; acting more than decent - and I still like Jeff Bridges; wonderful sceneries, CGI hit and miss, story far from original but decent. Entertaining, if you don't expect a movie at LOTR level.

7/10

Atomic Blonde (2017)

It just slipped under my radar, so I got the chance to watch it and I did. Charlize is wonderful as usual - even better when naked - and James McAvoy good as usual. A lot of action, violence in this spy story, and not a single "dead" moment - incredible, in a movie almost two hours long. Unmissable to any Mission Impossible fan and the like.

8/10

Odd Thomas (2014)

A mix between Ghost Whisper and Constantine, taken from a Dean Koontz novel, this flick is nice; I liked the action and some witty dialog; SFX were mostly good, even if overused IMHO. Sadly I discovered after the vision that the main star, Anton Yelchin, passed away... R.I.P.

6.5/10

Philophobia: Or the Fear of Falling in Love (2019)

Do not ask why I did end to watch this movie, I won't answer... not expectations, apart the title itself. And I can't understand how Rotten Tomatoes could give this 100% score. Acting: decent. Aesthetic: horrible over the top teal&orange. Locations: a flat, a bar, and few others. Story: could be interesting, but at the end used the psycho-horror-something way and ruined everything. It could have been a really interesting story, but after few minutes it fell apart. I should add that the last minute was funny and gained one point, but all in all it was a real waste of time. IMHO of course.

Horrible Histories: The Movie – Rotten Romans (2019)

Approached this title with no expectations at all, but at the end it was funny - for what this kind of movies could be funny, of course; better than many other parodies, if you want to have some laughs here and there, it could be not a total waste of time.

5.5/10

Playing with Fire (2019)

Nice comedy that connect a fire brigade with three orphans, and a lot of troubles, laughs and some tears (maybe). All in all, good entertainment for the whole family, with good actors, beautiful sceneries, and quite some fun.
