Not All Smilieys Converting From Text To Image

I came across this a couple of times. Either clicking on the "Smilies" sometimes only produces and text equivalent text ... at least, on this system. So I thought to go through all of them (methodically) to root out possible candidates for correction. The "TEXT" ones have spaces between each character so they don't auto-convert. Also, the images jump back to text as I edit here. It generally clears up on preview or post. Sometimes (It happened) here, auto-convert throws in an extra colon and then the smiley doesn't show (or the wrong smiley). Also,  I put "??" for non-standard smiley text, which I don't know. Others I'm grabbing from Cool Smileys: List of Text Emoticons – The Ultimate Resource .

Okay, while still in "edit" mode, 2 clicked-on smileys ("Heart" and "Cool") resulted as text, not image.

Next I'll "preview" in this edit and see how it redraws . . .

. . . Ah-ha! "Heart" shows as image in the preview and now also shows as image in the edit. The "Cool" image, however, doesn't show in the preview and still doesn't show in the edit.

Keep in mind that in editing, any adding or deleting of characters near a smiley often "breaks" the smiley and the graphic disappears. Sometime it immediately reappears but with an added ":" at the start (notice that in my 1st post). Sometimes it leaves the text behind only to fix itself on the preview or post. Obviously the edit code is not completely debugged.

Finally, how does it post? . . .

EDIT:
So, the "Heart" remains fixed in the post but it's back as text in this edit. "Cool" remains text in both.
