Too true, you are correct but I do still wish he had shot those scene in a format more compatible with the eventually 16:9 BD. Assuming the BD isn't in 2.20.

Lots of 70mm films have been released on Blu-ray by now, so nothing to worry about, really.

I think he means in terms of the Aspect Ratio. I believe Dunkirk's 70mm sections we're shot with anamorphic lenses.

Well no I meant the majority of the movie is still Imax format. Nolan likes to make 16:9 BD masters out of the Imax shots. So shooting 35mm in a 16:9 format or Vista Vision extraction would look more consistent on the home video release. Especially since, with Dunkirk, there are so few non-Imax shots.

It's possible he could release the BD in 2.20, like the 70mm/5 and DCP but his track record says otherwise.

FYI, Dunkirk on iTunes Movie Store is in 2.20:1. No changing aspect ratio bullshit.
Since I don't have a Apple TV 4K, I can't say anything what the 4K Dolby Vision version is.
But since the HD version is in fixed aspect ratio, I'd say the 4K version is too.
