[Request] Akira 2013 BD Regraded as 2001 DVD
#1
So I recently purchased the 2013 Blu-Ray of Akira and, my god, is it beautiful. I don't think I've ever seen a more gorgeous restoration of an animated film as this one. The only issue I had was entirely subjective, but I still tend to prefer the colors of the 2001 Pioneer DVD. I don't know why, maybe it's just me, but it just seemed to pop out more there.

So yeah, is anyone interested enough to regrade the BD to match the colors of the Pioneer DVD? Because that would be amazing Big Grin

Sorry if the BD screenshots aren't amazing. I can't capture my BD player, so I just took some screenshots online.

Thanks for the comparisons. The differences look major in the first set of pics but minor in the other two. Would you say there is a big difference over all?

These aren't exactly good examples, I apologize. I'll take some screenshots from the DVD version that came with the Blu-Ray.

Again, it may just be personal preference. The 2001 DVD has a higher contrast and darker, more earth-tone colors, giving the film a more bleak atmosphere to me.

I have copies of the BD and what I assume might be the 2001 DVD print. Both are Australian releases. I've never compared them. But after seeing this, I might just have to.

I'm not big on anime and I saw this film way back when but the 2001 DVD color timing looks far nicer than the Bluray. It's sharper too.
