[No Longer Available] Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Regrade (35 Project #1)
#11
@PDB

Yeah I don't have any issues like that. My interface has many inputs and outputs. I can convert your track in the background while listening to music in the foreground. Big Grin Which is exactly what I did, hah! Sound quality is also not an issue, this thing has quality DACs and ADCs.

I sent you the converted file back, check your PMs. Smile

I swear that it was discussed previously that the "Jewish gold" line is most likely yet another case of the Mandela Effect, like Luke's missed throw, "My god, it's full of stars" and the blue food in 2001, the U.S. Army Intelligence stamp burning off of the Ark crate at the end of Raiders, the "Jesse Owens" line actually making it into Crusade (I thought I read the mouth movements in the scene as filmed say "Mae West", but that even then, every released version still had the "Mickey Mouse" ADR). That is, no matter how many people remember having seen/heard it in the theaters, it most likely wasn't there in the theatrical version either.

I am reasonably certain that like with Star Wars, Raiders, Jurassic Park, etc., if an original 35mm someday surfaces it will be exactly the same as the version on video.

That's what I was wondering also, if this was one of those Mandela Effect things going on.

I think it's pretty well implied where the gold came from.

The Hindenburg thing, again I think that might be implied although one of the books of the film or on ILM might mention it. It would be an anachronism if it was the Hindenburg anyway.

Memory's a tricky thing anyway. I genuinely believe I saw the T-Rex swallow the lawyer whole in Jurassic Park at the cinema so what do I know

There have to be behind the scenes photos somewhere. I find it very hard to believe that they would have finished the footage and only then realized that the Hindenburg disaster occurred *before* the events of the film. Is there some telltale sign of an optical cover-up, like the Coca-Cola logos in Grease that had to be removed in post-production due to a Pepsi tie-in deal?

A pepsi deal? I thought it was as they didn't licence it from coke, and coke had them over a barrel on price as they had already shot it all.

Hey PDB, did you ever happen to confirm whether or not the false stutter on Willie's "What's the matter with you?" line to Indy was present on any other sources, apart from the laserdiscs? I recall you saying it was also on the P&S LD but I wasn't sure if that was its own unique track or just a duplicate of the widescreen disc's audio.

I'm just curious to know if it has always been part of the 35mm mix or not.

Anyway, looking forward to the project!

Forgot all about that. Yeah I kept the soundtrack as it is but I can check again. The widescreen ld was definitely not a digitalization of the ps ld's analog track but both do seem to be from the same master source.

Edit: Fixed it on the PCM 2.0

The Grease story I heard was that the director and art department were completely unaware of the deal, and only found out when the producer Allan Carr freaked out after seeing the footage. I swear Randal Kleiser once said that if they were aware of the deal they would have put Pepsi signs in the diner.

You can see Pepsi logos in the animated credits and the LP gatefold art.
