Why not multi-boot?

I have a 256gb m2 drive for the os and my other drives are green drives so not really good for an operating system. I also have the parts laying around for another PC, I just need to assemble it.

Also, I try to avoid multiboot as there is a bigger chance for things to go haywire.

The Theatrical Cut of the Abyss should be your priority. It as the original soundmix, color timing and open matte, and is not on the DVD which is a transfer from the SE, (the TC being taken from the longer SE version with some minor thinkering on a couple of shots). Can't wait, that one is long overdue!

I doubt you will be able to improve the DVD with the LD rip as they are both taken from the same master, the DVD being from the actual LD master. However the soundtrack is much better on the LD (for the SE) so concentrate on the soundtrack rip.

How would I deal with a disc that has laser rot?

Best solution, of course, would be to find out a disc without it! Big Grin

Apart that, you can get good to great result using oldest players which used helium-neon gas tubes (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LaserDisc_...ube_lasers) or get a MUSE laserdisc player which, with its red laser, could read "through" laser rot.

Although some players handle rot better than others none can replace the lost data, but it will keep the laser on track. Apparently putting a player in test mode can help with discs with corrupted TOCs as test mode does not read the TOC.

Oh, that's right. Hm... I don't know if my player can deal with the rot... I'll have to make other arrangements.

If it's not bad or interfering with the film go with it, but otherwise you might try an industrial older player or one reputed to do better with damaged/rotted discs. There are a few IIRC.

Some speckles can be expected on rot titles but if that's it and there wasn't a rot free pressing then it's understandably ok.
