That's the one mentioned in post#102. People have been using it via RipBot264 (without realizing it was what was being used).

I know, just wondering if anyone has tried it and if there's any tweaks it allows where ripbot doesn't.

Ah, I see. I misunderstood. It's for AviSynth+, as I understand it, which is why I've not tried it out yet. I prefer to keep AviSynth on my main computer, at least for the time being.

Yeah even if you could load it in normal AviSynth, you would not get the full bit depth of the source and thus likely have more banding than necessary. Though with a grainy source it might not be that apparent.

AviSynth+ seems like there is more complicated things to learn. It is also one of a few AviSynth forks which always makes me feel like waiting to see which one 'wins' or if the official version will eventually incorporate the necessary upgrades.

I am thinking that it would be nice with Trim commands to directly tweak colors and HDR conversion scene by scene all in a single script. Mind you I just don't have the time to play in this right now.

AviSynth+ is really almost identical to AviSynth in pretty much all ways but the new functions. It's also backwards compatible, including most plugins. I wrote a quick upgrade guide somewhere on this forum.

My RipBot tweaked conversion (sat 1,1, bright -2, cont 0,9) in the ballpark of MadVR:

RipBot conversion with default settings, having less saturation, more neutral oranges, almost browns, that might suit you better:

See, CSchmidlapp? This is why I like RipBot better than MadVR. I don't like the skintone shade I get with MadVR. I prefer the one I obtain using RipBot.

Yes, the Ripbot conversion is superior.
And such an easy interface to deal with, which is rare with these type of things.
Thanks for taking the time to do the comparisons Wink

Now that the DGTonemap plugin is in the hands of the gurus here, I suspect we will be getting some insane results via scripting.
I'm going to try and get Avisynth+ working.

This thread is going to be epic Smile

Ideally someone with a 4K HDR setup can compare the HDR with the various SDR conversions and work out which is the most accurate. ATM it's all very subjective

And even that is subject to a whole bunch of variables. Even calibrated screens could differ quite drastically!
