Oh, boy! This kind of tech stuff is way beyond me. I don't see "nits" being mentionned in RipBot264, whatever nits are.

It's most likely set to 100nits which is the standard for SDR. Raising/lowering it will alter the clipping point for highlights but also adjust the overall brightness.

All I see is: hue, saturation, brightness, contrast. Other softs have been mentioned. Maybe they have more setting, like those "nits".

MadVR / RipBot264 with even more saturation (too much actually), less brightness, less contrast.

During conversion ripbot uses Ffmpeg as well.

My Grease conversion finished this morning, but while looking excellent, for some reason it froze the picture after 1hr40mins for the rest of movie so another two days of encoding, hoping this time it does it correctly.

The Dark Knight again.

MadVR / RipBot default / RipBot with tweaking (saturation 1,1, brightness -2, contrast 0,9):

Beber could you do a screen shot of the scene at 06.49 in the Dark Knight using all your methods?

I just launched the full movie encode with those latest tweakings, so let's say in about 36 hours, then...

I see: oranges, blues, greens, cyans... That's a shot with rich, lovely colors. My latest tweakings seem to be in the ballpark compared to MadVR conversion, so I guess it will resemble your screenshot, only a bit brighter and probably a bit different shade of orange.

It's the orange that bothers me, it just looks wrong to my eyes.
