I think both the people who loved it and hated it can agree, a little editing to tighten up the movie would go a long way

Do you guys know if a simple top/bottom crop would have the same framing non-IMAX theatrical version had?
I'd rewatch it, but I hate shifting aspect ratio.

I got the BD and lined it up against the DVD (which is the constant 2.35 version) in Premiere and its pretty close to center. I didn't look at the whole movie but it looks like the 2.35 version can be a little more up or down of center depending on the scene but I don't think a center cut would look too bad. I know the HDTV streaming video versions are 2.35. I didn't know if it was a better idea to cut the BD to 2.35 based on the DVD or capture a HDTV stream. Supposedly, a post I read somewhere stated the BD's Imax scenes are a direct scan of the Imax Negative whereas the DVD's (and HDTV?) 2.35 Imax scenes are from an IP made from the Imax neg, so they look a little different. Interesting stuff. Thanks given by: Feallan , doctorstrangelove

To me it's a tie between Batman Begins and Interstellar being Nolan's best work. One main reason why i like it is the emotions that it unleashes when watching it at the big screen, especially the father-children relationship. On the technical side it was very good too in my book. The only thing i did not like were the shifts between letterbox and Imax fullscreen.

The Prestige is my favorite Nolan. I don't think that movie gets enough love.

I cutted the BD imax scenes but, as reference, the letterbox theatrical version filmed directly on projection. This led me to the reconstruction of the real theatrical 2.35 version. Now, you tell me that Interstellar DVD version has constant letterbox aspect ratio?! I have no choice... i gonna buy, tomorrow, a copy of the DVD and see ... if i worked for nothing... :3
