The Thing Regrade

I feel like you should have resisted. Even the people who spent years and thousands on making 35mm scans have never, to my knowledge, altered any credits. Nevertheless thanks for putting in the work.
My final export is still going for another 3.5 hours, so I don’t have caps of my finished product. I do still have the 991 shots from each release that I used to create my LUT .cube files, though, and would be happy to share them if you want them. The folders are about 2GB each.

And oh well on the credit. It was just something I wanted to do, and I didn’t really remove anything. I’ve seen plenty of fanedits with end credits altered and/or added. Technically that’s what this is.

I think saying that a single credit that lasts a few seconds after the main film is over “ruins it all” is a bit hyberbolic. The 2016 color grade is, in and of itself, inarguably revisionist. In any case, no one’s forcing anyone to watch this. You’re certainly welcome to create your own version.

Agree that "ruins it all" is not a bit, but a lot hyberbolic; yet, I also agree that an eventual card after the credits would be the preferable choice, IMHO of course, it is a fan project, after all, and you are free to make whatever you want.

Thanks for commenting, spoRv. Yeah, TBH, that was what I had initially intended, but there was no “dead space” to work with in the credits as they were without extending the overall file length, which would’ve thrown off the 4.1 audio sync, which I really wanted to leave untouched.

By the way, I LOVED your work on Halloween. It was the basis for my extended version because I adored your color work. It’s my go-to version of the film! Smile

Thanks for the appreciation! Ok

Well, I always add a 10s card after my projects, and they would not go out of sync... only, the card stays without any audio, as I don't want to touch audio (and, also, don't want eventually to do it for any audio track! Big Grin )

Proof of concept comparison.

Wow, not a bad color correction from what I'm seeing. On the minor controversy over the altering of a credit card, I personally do not care what you do as long as it's not some fat watermark in the corner of the screen for the entire runtime lmao

I definitely do agree with what the others are saying though that it'd probably be for the best in future projects to add it in as a separate card before or after the movie.

Not a criticism of your work, but does anyone else find the Scream Factory image sharper than the Arrow image? (aside from the weird denoise artifacts on the sparks for example)

They used artificial sharpening and enhancement on their interpositive scan. The Arrow is a scan of the OCN and is devoid of such devices. As such, it does look softer by direct comparison, but the SF disc has no more detail for all the illusion of it. And, as you point out, there are some ugly side effects to what SF attempted on their release.
