[Idea] Covert art and printing
#1
just an idea

I presume that a lot of the community here keep these amazing restorations on hard drives which is easier to stream.

I'm in the process of building of a media server (slow process due to funds sadly) but thanks to a friend or two, I do manage to get some of these projects burnt on disc.

but to be honest, some of these efforts are so good that I feel that they deserve a place in my movie collection. having it in a case with some custom artwork makes it a bit more special.

So I was thinking it would perhaps be a good idea to have a section dedicated to artwork for such releases or custom artwork in general and some tips on printing. It might even bring some photoshop talent to the boards as well with the same interests in preserving film in the form of original posters etc

Even if the page is in German, I can recommend crazycovers.net as ressource for ideas how to make custom covers.
Also Infos in dimensions of different DVD and BD boxes can be found there...

do they provide dimensions for the Full-front Scanavo cases (what Criterion use for BD releases)

which you can buy from here when they are in stock

When I find my log in I will check. But it is quite possible.
For printing covers 300dpi is recommended as resolution.

I did some artwork for my projects - you can find them here: https://fanrestore.com/thread-1349.html

I stopped making them, because it seems nobody were interested...

Sadly these are cases they don't seem to provide infos for.

I check if I have any of the Criterion BDs unsealed, and can check size, next time I am home.

@Bigrob: take one of mine, I used a template made for Criterion, so they *should* fit perfectly!

Some of the covers are not in German. There is at least one person who does English covers.

But even if the covers are in German. Some are very great, and show how custom cover artwork could look like.

There may be similar forums and pages in English...
