 I had no idea a semi open matte existed of this. Curious. Do The Two Towers and Return of the King exist also?

TT and ROTK have a few shots that are OM but not enough for a project like FOTR.

Comparing many STARZ WEB DL Open Matte, I noticed that they often have complete sources without cropping, all other HDTV or WEB with other broadcasts are very cropped. It is worth waiting for the trilogy to appear on STARZ and checking the content.

Any updates on this? Saw a custom open matte in a russian board from 2019 but i do not know if there is a better Open Matte source available or if a 4k version can be rendered.
"The hybrid is obtained by automatically combining widescreen (2.35:1) BDRip , fullscreen (4:3) DVD Fullscreen and WEB-DL Amazon (16:9) by the AutoOverlay plugin in order to get the version of the movie with the maximum content of the frame. The height of the frame throughout the film is floating (depending on the content)."

This project isn't going to be updated from me. I don't see a reason to revisit at the moment. Sorry about that.
I think the Russian version is attempting to add as much picture as possible to each frame using all those sources. Trying to get every shot open matte. I think but don't know, haven't seen it yet. Mine is more like a Nolan film, it just opens up for the shots that had significant material (opening, cave troll, bridge entire ending and various other shots). Thanks given by: SHM
