[Proposal] The Abyss (1989) BD
Nice! I guess if these few minutes could be enough to produce a (quite) faithful LUT; also, I guess the subtitles "shift" colors to white, or am I wrong?

As I said, I white-balanced the stills from the scanned footage by using the subtitles as a white point (didn't change much) and then used a near-black spot as a black point (which fixed the mild fade).

You can see the resultant curve here.

I wonder if there is someone that has noted the needed cuts (possibly in avisynth) to put in sync the EE with the TC...

There are some differences in takes and audio in scenes that are in both so I'm not sure it works.

I know, but I was thinking about getting a EE-cut-as-TC-as-much-as-possible, to use as color reference, and the parts who does not match would be regraded on their own.

Regrade test - using full screen 1.33:1 HDTV as color reference:

I think 50/50 is quite nice - green is almost all gone, magenta is not too much, whites are more balanced.

Opinions?

Wholeheartedly agree: The full regrade is a bit screwy in some of the frames (EG: Bottom 3rd Row, 2nd Right) where there's a strong magenta push but the 50/50 fixes the major issues found in the original master.

UHD test clip 1, regraded - 1m 438MB HEVC 8bit SDR 61.2mbps no audio:

https://fex.net/s/c55vpv3 - will expire in a week, so hurry up! Big Grin

final version would be 10bit, though, I would like to be UHD-BD compliant (a dream, maybe, let's see)

Now, would be nice if someone with an UHD TV/display could download it and give an opinion.

The 50/50 does look best. Is the source a true WEB DL or an upscale of the HDTV?
