(solved) Auto-Embed for Imgur albums broken
#1
It's been awhile since I've been on here; It looks like a recent update now automatically embeds certain supported media links.
Unfortunately it doesn't seems to work with Imgur albums, and has broken every link to galleries that I have posted:

(I think the gallery that embeds is auto-selected by Imgur for broken links)

Also, even if you can get this working, I think it should be possible to disable per link. Right now it adds a bunch of vertical space that I wanted to avoid by linking to an external site:

If possible, I also think it shouldn't retroactively apply to old posts for the same reason (and to hopefully avoid any broken link situation in the future).
Viewing the site in the latest version of Firefox. Get the same bug in Chrome. Thanks as always for running things around here!

There is definitely something up with how images are handled since the update. I’ve noticed they don’t appear at all on mobile Chrome, and on normal browsers it’s no longer just the image but a whole embedded div

Yes, it looks like whatever embed plugin is being used is overriding the image tag. If I use it with http links, it gets overridden and turned into and embedded div, while https images work correctly.
Code:
[img]http://i.imgur.com/xxxx.jpg[/img] (gets overridden)
[img]https://i.imgur.com/xxxx.jpg[/img] (works as expected)

That's strange! I just double checked my last post that used them, it's using https and still showing as embedded div. Hmm..

Ever since the forum update picture links are pretty much broken for me on desktop and mobile, clearing the cache helped with some links but not others namely the imgur links. Rather than start a new thread I resurrected this one

I don't know about you guys but images are still not working for me. I usually open the forum from PC. Postimg pictures appear just as links, same goes for images uploaded on other websites. The images from imgur in the first post of this thread do work, although they are surrounded by [image: ]

Seems to work more-or-less correctly in Chrome, but in Firefox, I get exactly what Evit describes.

I do use Chrome but after some testing, it might be a problem with my cookies because I opened a thread in private browsing and the previews worked. Sorry for the false alarm. I'll just try the first trick in the book: delete cookies ;D
I leave it here because it might be handy for others to know.

Okay, after investigating thoroughly on this broken preview issue, I've come to the conclusion that there must be some problem with the forum itself because the previews don't work only when I'm logged in (tested both from PC and mobile, and on different browsers) but every preview works just fine when I'm not logged in. That's why it worked in private mode (no automatic login there) and on Firefox which I never use, so I've never logged in from there either.
So it's no adblocker, no antivirus, no cache issue.
Why this happens to some users and not others I have no idea. [EDIT: check this post for the solution]
