Neverending Story Edit Help
#1
Question for you guys.  In this video, there's a hard cut around :46-:47...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adBmLtE4wwg

But on the US and Holland Blu-ray's, those two shots dissolve, as seen at around :48 in this video...

Does anyone know which edit is accurate to the original International Cut?  Anyone have the laserdisc to check this?

I don't own either version on laserdisc but if it helps both the international and extended versions in my Japanese Blu Ray set feature the dissolve.
Program material is recorded on the other side of this disc...

Yep, which makes me wonder where the hard cut even came from. Likely DVD (it’s obviously sped up via PAL), which is why I’m sort of wanting to see the laser. If the DVD is a one-off, then we’ll know it was likely an error there. If the hard cut is on the laser as well, I think it more likely that it was changed for Blu-ray and never corrected back to the original hard cut. If I can’t find anyone here who can find this out, I will have a chance to look at the laser on Saturday. Believe it or not, I know someone who has a player and this film.

Initial export is on its way. Pending confirmation of this fade (or lack thereof), a few very minor tweaks, and syncing up to some alternate audio tracks, this project is basically done. 300 edits to save less than seven minutes of screen time. Good Lord. I guess that’s what Peterson gets for asking Spielberg for input. lol

Sorry, I never got around to extracting the Japanese Blu Ray audio for you to compare. I had a busy few weeks with Christmas and work and it entirely slipped my mind but I should be able to do it today or tomorrow if you're still interested. I suspect it's the same as the US Blu Ray though.

Yeah, it most likely is the same. I’m going to use the US audio, the Holland 5.1 (which is lossy, but reportedly closer to the original mix), and the PCM 2.0 surround from the laserdisc.

Another question - have the shots of Atreyu always been substantially zoomed in on the US version as compared to the German version when he's talking to Urgl?
