[Help] A Better Tomorrow 2 DVD/Blu-Ray
#1
Looking for a decent print of A Better Tomorrow 2 with english subtitles for a reasonable price. I know of the Anchor Bay release as well as A Better Tomorrow Trilogy Blu-Ray Box Set. Do you guys know of a dvd or blu-ray of A Better Tomorrow 2 with good picture quality, english subtitles, and the original sound effects? I really don't know how much better the blu-ray quality is compared to the dvd or which dvd is the best in terms of picture quality

The BluRay is just an upscale. Forget it, the Hong Kong BDs just have horrible remix Audio.

The Anchor Bay DVD release is the best.
It contains the best picture in 16.9 @ 23.976 (with pull down)
The original mono audio in both Chinese and English.
I'm unsure on the subs, there probably dub-titles.

The HKL U.K DVD is probably 2nd best.
16.9 but 25 fps
5.1 remixes of both Chinese and English audio
But the subs are probably the best out there and an exclusive translation to that release.

The Bluray releases are blown out contrast wise and upscaled.
John Woo's back catalogue is in dire need of some attention Smile

How large is your room? If it is not very large then Best Subwoofer you do not really need to buy very powerful speakers. Keep in mind that the speakers need to be placed a reasonable distance away from the seating or else the audio will not sound very good.

Well, I know this is a spam Bot message, but it dares me to answer... Big Grin

My room is about 18 to 23 square meters in size. So it is VERY small for a living room
I have two big subwoofers. One with 300Watt up to 600Watt peak the other one 350 to 700Watt...
So...I don't need a spam it telling me how to setup a sound system to sound really well, even in a small room... Big Grin

Anchor Bay DVD is the best I know of. I'm still trying to find physical copies of their I and II releases without getting the screwed up audio version of I.

ABT1 has a 4K remastered Blu-ray. Fans have synced the LD mixes to it, and it's good, despite a slight teal shift.

There is a "fixed" rough version going around but I prefer the original disc myself.

AB messed up the dvd of 1 so it has pieces of other film soundtracks including Forrest Gump for some truly bizarre reason. If the back cover say stereo remix then it's the first messed up one. All corrected copies should just say mono on the back IIRC.

I'm still looking for that version with different music. There's no preserv of it anywhere.
