Three Days of the Condor (1975) LD Mono
#1
I don't think the original mono mix has been released anywhere on DVD or Blu-ray. So does anyone have the LD captured?

According to Rewind, the UK Eureka Blu reportedly has the mono mix despite being labeled in a 2.0 container. Eureka are usually good at including original mixes when possible, so I doubt they let their streak slip with a 2.0 downfold of the 5.1. The StudioCanal Blus also have a 2.0 ENG stereo track but those are confirmed to be a downfold of the remix.

Yeah wasn't sure. Rewind actually lists it as Stereo and even Eureka's own website too, but that's probably because of 2 channels. Couldn't find any confirmation it is the original mono.

Most BDs that have mono tracks present them in a 2.0 container so most players and equipment can process it properly in a standard 2 channel configuration. These are typically labeled "stereo" (sometimes called dual mono), but are indeed the mono being fed in a L/R configuration. Sometimes there are 1.0 mono tracks, but these are uncommon as some players and equipment can't process it properly in a normal L/R configuration and only feed it to ether the L or R channel (home theater systems are much better at this by directing it at the center channel or doing a custom upmix to all channels).

Yup, well aware of that. I just haven't seen any confirmation it is actually a dual mono track (Rewind doesn't actually say it like you had mentioned). I know Eureka are normally good at this though, so I think its likely that it is. But would like to verify before I lay down some money for it.

I need to get the Eureka. I have the WS LD which is great but despite being labelled mono I swear it sounds stereo in some places.

The early 90s Paramount widescreen LD is a different master than the P&S one (which definitely has a mono track but is analog). No doubt it probably uses an early stereo remix that could have been made by Chace if the score is stereo with the bulk remaining mono.

There's a 1993 Japanese letterbox LD that not only uses a different master than the Paramount WS LD, but probably has a PCM mono track as well.

Paramount only has UK and UK distribution rights, while it went through various distributors rest of the world until it ended up with StudioCanal (who owns the DEG catalog, and Condor was produced by Dino De Laurentiis).

I think you might be right.

So I did the dual-mono test (split tracks, and invert one of them) on Eureka's 2.0 track and unfortunately it is not mono. I didn't think so when I heard it. Its quite obvious actually with the music during the opening credit sequence.

The Japanese LD might be the only hope, but seems to be quite obscure. Otherwise one of the discs with analog mono.
