[Request] Superman: The Movie 4K 5.1 Original Mix
#11
Hi pipefan!

I'm not sure what do you refer as old BD, but I know the Theatrical Cut AVC Blu-ray is in sync with the 4K BD. And at least in the US, it's also the one that comes packed with it.

But I think I read some reports of the VC-1 BD coming with the 4K, but I think it was in other countries.

Might be worth having a listen to be sure you have a disc from a later pressing, there must still be some incorrect discs out in the wild.

This probably explains why I have 2 copies of the Blu-ray box set. I know I bought a second one but I didn't remember why.

Do you happen to know if the (1080p) Blu-ray Disc in the 4K set is from the new transfer, or if it's just a repressing of the old disc? I tried muxing the audio to the 2011 Blu-ray and it does appear to sync at first glance at least, I skipped to near the end and checked to see if I could see any obvious issues with sync but didn't think it looked off. It's entirely possible that there's a small discrepancy that I've not yet noticed though. Does anybody know if the old 1080p BD and the new 1080p and 4K BDs are all in sync?
To be clear, the disc error was with the DVD set, not the blurays. The BD's should all sync with the 4K as it's the same one from the boxed set reissued. The issue was that some regions were issued the extended cut BD disc with the 4k and not the theatrical so in that instance they are not compatible for obvious reasons.

I meant the theatrical cut Blu-ray from before the 4K existed. The only other one I know of is the VC-1 "expanded" cut, which naturally won't sync with theatrical audio. Ta for confirming!

Oh aye right enough. I had a look and it actually appears I just got the set replaced because it arrived damaged but they said not to send it back.

I originally bought that standalone Blu-ray when it first came out, not realising it was the "expanded" cut. I replaced it with the box set when that came out later.

Ta!

Ooh did not know about this. I bought a used copy of the Superman Anthology set so not sure which one I have. Is there a way to tell which is the corrected disc? My set is the Blu Ray btw, did the problem only affect DVD?

fyi the 2006 dvds are notorious for rotting so if you can even find one that's ok rip it it immediately.

I got the 2006 UCE tin box on Ebay sealed for under $5 a few years ago just to have these versions on hand. AFAIK all tin sets should have the corrected audio but the problem was the packaging usually caused discs to be floaters and get scratched to death. Sure enough one disc was shot but every other disc is perfect.

I am confused with something over at bluray.com. (I cannot comment there because I'm banned for life).
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.php?p...count=2950
Someone asks how he can buy the 2018 UHD with the original 5.1 track and they tell him to go at ebay.
Why ebay?
Amazon seems to have this, and at a cheap price too. (and I assume other shops too)
https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Superman-...ay/216211/

Or doesn't this include the original 5.1 mix?
Was there any problem in an initial batch that resulted in replacements?

The worry is that the newer pressings of the STM 4K seem to have dropped the DD 5.1 of the 70mm mix. They're saying go to eBay so you can check the photos of the individual listings to make sure you're getting an old one with the 5.1. If you order from Amazon (or any other retailer) its luck of draw on whether you'll get theĀ old disc or the new one.
