I've largely given up on the original Blade Runner. I've watched many different cuts.
For years I never considered that Harrison's character was a replicant.
All these years later, I still don't know. I think last I heard the director said he wasn't but the script writer said he is (or vice versa). The sequel muddies it more.
At this point, it sounds like the movie is coincidentally good, having nothing to do with the writer or director and entirely to do with the cast.

The first time I saw the Last Jedi, I really disliked the movie. However, after watching Knives Out and really understanding the story that Rian Johnson really wanted to tell, I actually thought The Last Jedi was pretty good. Definitely my favorite of the sequels.
Luke as a flawed character who fell into temptation towards the dark side and had been living in self-imposed solitary confinement as penance? Excellent. Benicio del Toro as a Han Solo-esque character who betrays them for profit? Consider my expectations subverted (in a good way). The casino sub plot? Ehh. Luke drinking the green milk while the monster thing makes eye contact with the camera? Golly what a bold decision.
I also thought it was really a shame that JJ Abrams decided to revert all the story beats which Rian Johnson had set up, and instead go back to incredibly basic characters.
