[Help] Paramount re-releasing Jackie Chan catalogue? Possibly?
#1
Since all the Echo Bridge Jackie Chan blu-rays are OOP, do you think that Paramount will re-release the Miramax versions on blu-ray? I actually saw quite a few Jackie Chan movies streaming on Paramount+ recently. I don't understand why they wouldn't considering how he's one of the most popular action stars ever. I know almost nobody likes those Miramax cuts but I just enjoy hearing Jackie's voice. I feel more connected with the movie when he's dubbing his own voice. It's one of the few things that Miramax did right imo

Their parent company purchased the rights to Miramax almost two years ago. They've already been reissuing some Miramax titles from what I heard. To me releasing those older Jackie titles is a no brainer. Legend of Drunken Master and Operation Condor would be nice since they are crazy expensive these days

Legend of Drunken Master aka Drunken Master 2 is owned by Warner Bros who just released it on BD so I doubt you will hear that dub again anytime soon.

I forgot about that. Yeah Warner Archive didn't include the US version. But they did release the Mr. Nice Guy blu ray with the New Line Cinema cut oddly enough. I don't know if it's a rights issue or what. Doesn't make sense to me

Warner owns New Line so they can use whatever assets New Line has, hence US cut of Nice Guy.

Just found out the reason why Warner Bros did not include the Legend cut. Warner Bros has Miramax distribution rights only in Japan. That's why the Japanese release of Drunken Master 2 included both cuts while the US version did not. That sucks but fortunately I was able to get a copy of the old Legend blu ray for a decent price recently and the transfer on that 2009 blu ray looks better than the warner bros release imo. It's not DNRed to oblivion and the colors and lighting actually look natural

I am also a big fan of Jackie Chan and his films, I have a large collection of different Blu Ray discs and different HDTV recordings or WEB DL broadcasts. Now it's very good that 88film has started releasing his films in remastered.

88 films is doing a fantastic job. I just wish they could include the US cuts of some of those movies like Operation Condor where Jackie actually does the english dub
