Basically, the versions on iTunes, MS Store, Google Play/YT, and Vudu are this version if the provider says "Paramount Pictures".

Both versions on the US iTunes show Lionsgate/SC for me so that rules them out.

I think they are playing fast and loose with streaming vs TV.

Unless things changed, the iTunes versions only available to rent are the ones listed as Paramount. The Lionsgate listings are the ones that are own for 9.99 or redeem with their codes.

Here's what I pulled up

So if you rent it, it's Paramount, if you buy it, it's LG/SC. That's a crazy system.

Paramount only owns US TV and Streaming rights. StudioCanal owns full digital rights outside of the US.

To put this to bed surely all that is needed is to check this HBO stream against the old Extreme edition master, there were some notable changes to the colour scheme from the UE to the EE.

I heard there was a 1080i HDTV of the theatrical cut that went around on some sites, but is long dead by now.

However, I clearly remember seeing a 1.78 version pop up on Epix, Hulu, and Vudu back in 2017. It was opened up for most scenes sans the CG VFX stuff, and had the TriStar logo intact along with a Paramount logo at the end.

OK capped the HBOMax T2 broadcast

And compared it to all the T2 copies I had on hand including the Lionsgate 2015 BD, the Live DVD and UE US DVD. Couldn't find my copy of the DVHS or the EE DVD to compare.

Versus the caps-a-a-holic pics

So 99% sure its the same old transfer as on the LG disc.

I'm hearing that Starz Canada and Super Channel (a Canadian premium network) have a 1.78 version of the theatrical cut. No word on what the transfer is like, but I assume it's the Paramount streaming version with TriStar intact. Any Canucks up north willing to double check?

Isn't that one zoomed in? I'm not sure, but I wouldn't be surprised.

I think only the CG VFX stuff is cropped while the rest shows more top and bottom.
