I haven’t got my copy yet but there’s been some Blu-ray forum discussion on it already. The previous MGM 5.1 was a slight remix and the 2.0 tracks seem to be the original surround mix on the Shout/Arrow BDs.

The new Kino 5.1 is a new mix or perhaps a 5.1 upmix of the stereo maybe. The 2.0 should be the original but I haven’t gotten mine yet.

I did finally find the LD with pcm audio so I’ll make a capture of it.

The Kino 2.0 is a downmix of the 5.1, no original stereo to be found on Kino Lorber UHD. How do I know this? Right from the start, there's some of the bass that's lacking on the opening score/opening credits, this problem was on the 5.1 remixes and is also on the Kino. Also the Kino still has the foleys as the other 5.1 remixes, for e.g. at 39m ~55s, the rain drops you hear on the Kino 5.1 and 2.0 is the same one on the previous 5.1 remixes. So if you want the original stereo, you have to get either Shout or Arrow, Arrow one is good... Not sure how it compares with the LD, but I had no problems in watching with it. You need to either convert arrow audio to same 24 fps or change the Kino video to 23.976.

The audio on the blurays/4k arer re mixed to sound like a micheal mann movie - too loud gunshots and too low dialog

the LD is more balanced and has better fidelity.

Did you manage to capture and sync to uhd yet, captainsolo.

I did capture my LD so just message me if someone wants to try doing a sync. (I've never been able to do one well personally.)

Something is terribly wrong with the Kino 2.0. I have no idea what happened but it gets really loud in spots, the high end is very nasty sounding even having crazy sibilance and distortion in the music and end title, it sounds very compressed and generally terrible. The 5.1 may be the MGM dvd 5.1/BD 5.1 Friedkin mix or it may be a little tweaked. The LD is the best overall and feels so much richer than this Kino track it hurts. Arrow's 2.0 sounds like a decent version of the Dolby stereo as well so the Kino 2.0 is alone in sounding this bad.

Add in UHD encoding problems, continual specks and dirt and some definite weirdness with the grain throughout and you have the hot mess that is the
Kino disc.
