this ist not really possible. in the first 2 minutes they are 34 Cuts and the Extended is in 4:3, the Bluray has 16:9.
Only Upscale the DVD.

In his Instagram Site the Aspect Ratio switched between 16:9 and 4:3. Its not complete in 16:9 and he work not Frame by Frame.
In the First Episode sometimes missing 4-16 Frames by the Bluray, he use the complete scene from the DVD. Or maybe he ignore the missing 160ms-1000ms.

Switching AR would be preferable between blu-ray and upscaled dvd if done correctly without missing frames rather than upscaled dvd, as dvd quality was horrendous to begin with but like mb89 has mentioned would be an absolute monumental task and with 4k coming soon would need to be updated again at some point so not worth the effort.

I would definitely like to see what your upscale of the DVD looks like. As X5gb said, they are poor quality DVD's but the original aspect ratio is always preferred.

Friend’s was filmed in 16:9, so in this case, the original broadcast 4:3 were cropped, and so for me 16:9 is preferable for the non extended scenes. Feel the same for other shows filmed in 16:9 like Everybody Loves Raymond (my fave) and King of Queens.

For majority of them shots yea (ones where they need to be cropped top/bottom), 4/3 wherever needed, but I like seeing all them 16/9 set quirks etc so still 16/9 on them shots for me.
