Wow, that looks great! Does your project still use the EMS source, or are you using the Dragon Dynasty print?

Cheers Serums.

It's the same master as the EMS but a different encode from Scanbox.
There a Scandinavian label and released a nice John Woo boxset, although the other prints vary in quality.
The encode has alot less compression artifects and the original Mono soundtrack sounds phenomenal!

It was supplied to me very kindly by a member here.

Im currently rebuilding my project from my backups due to Hard Drive Armageddon, so im pretty much starting it again from scratch!

Thanks for the information. I was unaware of that release, but always thought that the EMS looked quite nice. Damn, sorry to hear about your hard drive. Good work takes time though, will be interesting to see the result!

The EMS is great. It's pretty much the same just, better compressed.

It is a pain! Im glad I kept backups, but I lost all my renders!
Its pretty much click and render for the most part but i changed the initial upscale to something much better Smile
Ive added alot more grain this time around, as I didn't want to remove detail in the clean up process.
I only cleaned up the blue channel and as opposed to using a grain plate Ive used Regrain from Magic Bullet.

Pretty much.

Ive put it on the back burner after a project by Iceprick (another member here) corrected much of the problems with the Dragon Dynasty disc. His project also contained all of the special features collected onto one disc like listed at the start of this thread.
I highly recommend it and it should be out there somewhere in the wild.

I did start trying to recreate mine after a Hard Drive fail that wiped out all my work on it.
I do have backups of the avisynth scripts and premiere project files but I lack the time (and motivation in this case) to do all the re-rendering ect, and have moved on to work on other projects.
My time has become very tight due to work commitments, a 3 year old and some unfortunate health problems over the past few years so the scope of my work on projects like this have changed.
This does not mean I will never come back to this but I'm not working on it as we speak.

Sorry to disappoint you or anybody who was looking forward to this.
And Thank you to all who helped me with this project.

I'm hoping Fortune Star have this on there slate for a 4k scan and re-release.
We really need something better to work with Smile

Aw man that sucks, im hopeful though, with eureka releasing john woo's Last Hurrah For Chivalry and Hand of Death there is no doubt that theyre releasing (or announcing) The Killer soon. (These two films were never released on bluray btw).

Hand of Death was released on bluray. https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Hand-of-D...ay/117195/
Although it was probably an upscale.

4k remaster's of John Woo's catalog would be a dream Smile
Everything A Better Tomorrow onwards is a must.

I think it was an upscale, but the new transfer will be welcomed. Agreed, hopefully some of John Woo's other films will get this treatment.
