I don't know your model, but cool for you. I have an Epson that does it too, the TW-7000. My Sony 270ES does it as well. But yeah, Epson no longer supports 3D on the newest models apparently.

I've never watched a 3D movie in VR actually. Personally, I've always found the 3D experience a bit of a workout on the eyes, and 2D movies in VR are so immersive anyways. But I know the Apple Vision Pro handles 3D really well. It's just that their operating system is so limiting in the programs you can use.
Having said that, The Polar Express and Jurassic Park were really great 3D experiences on the big screen. And I hear Jaws was really good too. I'm kind of sad there is no media version of that available.
It's definitely something I need to explore more.

I would say that if you have a Sony 3D projector you're good for the foreseeable future. If 3D comes back in a meaningful way then manufacturers will once again jump on the bandwagon

I guess. But it's a lamp model, and EU is about to make it harder to buy extra lamps because of the current dogma that'd have you believe the planet is in peril. So I bought 4 generic compatible lamps in advance and an Espon model, also a lamp model, as back-up. I'll probably buy a couple extra lamps for the Espson as well before they become banned in the EU. With that, I should be able to enjoy some 3D projections for a while.

The lamps will still be available around the world I think. I think the active 3D glasses will be a bigger problem in the long run.
The EU has tried to ban lamps before, however they have to allow for certain special purpose lamps for medical/industrial purposes. Cine film collectors panic bought halogen lamps because they heard that they were being completely phased out but they are still available. Also pretty much every cinema be it film or digital uses a Xenon lamp which is very similar to the UHP lamps used in home projectors, there is no way they are going to make all those projectors obsolete in one fell swoop.

Right. I just wanted to make sure when the news came out, but some time later Espon communicated that the lamps would not be gone overnight. Still the EU wants those gone progressively, and all brands have switched to LED, laser or LED+laser on their newest models. These last longer, but when the LED or laser is dead, after some 25 000 hours of use, you have to buy a new model altogether, there's no way to change the light source like we do with lamps.

Sorry, that was not a brag post. My point being is that (very popular) model is still in production, and (afaik) has not been replaced in their lineup yet. It also doesn’t state 3D in the specs on the Epson site.

I didn't take it as bragging, don't worry. Is your model using a lamp or laser, then?
But apparently, their flagship models such as the Epson LS12000 doesn't support 3D, and that's an expensive one supposed to rival the Sony 5000.
EDIT: okay, found it. It's a lamp on the 5050UB. It looks like the Epson 9400.

The original PS VR supports 3D Blu-rays, but of course you're not getting full 1080p per eye. I still prefer it over 3D in the movie theaters, though.

The PlayStation updated their headset in 2023 with the VR2, which doubles the resolution to 2000x2040 per eye. And they still use OLED screens which give those nice rich blacks.
Which is another thing I love about VR. The bounce light you get from the screen is pretty non existent. You’re in a pitch black space with the screen, which allows for more immersion. Unless you choose a specific environment to watch in. But I like the void, haha.
