Deep Blue Sea (1999) Open Matte/P&S
#1
I wonder is there an undamaged WEB-DL or HDTV of the Open Matte/P&S version of "Deep Blue See" to find anywhere?
The one with the WEB-DL tag I got several copies from different shares unfortunately is full of damaged black/green frames, unwachable. I'd guess it's a screencaptured WEBRip, but not a real WEB-DL. Too bad because I like the grading and framing of that outdated transfer, would be worth a high quality preservation in my opinion. Also found a HDTVRip on a Russian tracker that doesn't have damaged frames but missing part of a scene and it also is a small SD reencode. Maybe someone has a clue where to find a good 1080p copy of that 16:9 full frame version? Thank you!

The only undamaged open matte source available that I'm aware of for Deep Blue Sea is from the "Deep Blue Sea 2-Film Collection" single DVD release:

https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/819V..._QL80_.jpg

It's a region 1 DVD -- I'm not sure if it is available in other regions.

Because it's a DVD, it is only standard definition and not HD, but it is a clean open matte version of the 2010 BD transfer without any damaged/missing frames from the other sources you mentioned. I've seen those versions as well and was also disappointed by the quality of them. I would be curious if a more raw/direct capture of a higher resolution open matte version existed, or better yet a full frame version, as this particular open matte transfer is still missing information along the top and bottom part of the frame. The only official full frame versions that I know exist are the VHS releases and non-English VCD releases with burned-in subtitles.
