The real 2.0 english track is on the MGM. The MGM is the go by disc. It's just dark, with slight zooming on the sides (which in cinemascope is probably the correct framing).

I'm watching some frames both on MGM and HDNET; still think the latter is better, not only because the former is overly dark, but also for a better color grading - that is quite similar to the Shout/DE BD, without being so... "natural"

Probably the Shout version it the one with color closest to theatrical version, as the master is taken from an interpositive... unless HDNET or other versions, like some laserdisc, has a master taken from release print - reeeally unlikely, but who knows...

Nope I've seen a 35mm copy recently. Shout is digital garbage. It's totally off in several chunks. HDNET is closest to the original IP's but still misses some stuff. MGM was totally redone since it's from the negative. But apart from being dark, which you can fix, it's the best of the whole bunch. Also the double DVD edition was good too.
