I'm trying to think, where was that one site where you could buy Blu-ray discs separate from their bigger box-set releases? I think it was called iDisc or something, but that can't be right...

That's very strange and I have never heard of something like that.
Honestly, I'm wondering why anyone would want to purchase the discs separately if they are part of a set unless it's a matter of not being able to afford the entire set.

What if a single disc is lost/broken/sodirtitisimpossibletoclean? With small children (or dogs, cats, wives), you know it could happen...

Huh, I guess you're right. I never thought of that, because I backup all of my DVD/BDs and use a media-center for everything so kids stay away from the actual discs

Your solution is the best, I agree! But not everybody could do this... so, a "replacement" disc service could still be useful - even if I doubt it exists...
