Have you had a chance to listen to the LD audio? How does it compare with the BD track?

If you can't do it yourself, the next step will be to ask someone to sync the LD audio to the BD. jerryshadoe comes to mind. He did a fantastic job with Heat.

jerryshadoe mentioned to me a few weeks back that he'd be willing to help sync it so thumbs up there! I havent listened to all of it but I'm skimming through it. Considering that the LD was from 1993 and the VHS I sampled in my comparison videos was from 1991 I assumed that the LD would probably be a similar if not the same source as that used on the VHS. From what Im hearing my theory appears correct. The missing bits I mentioned are present but also Henry's line 'Now I know what it feels like to be GOD!' is dubbed by a crack of thunder. However, I think this track has great if not prefect potential in doing service in this particular project. However, there's some things to consider such as the first step. Do we sync it right away? Shall we restore Henry's line first? Referring back to Leonardo's video shall we go with noise reduction or leave the track as is? In the case of the former shall this be the first step? As far as restoring Henry's line I could probably do that with Garageband or Audacity but I dont wanna put the track at risk of being reduced in quality once its converted. What are your guys' suggestions???

Yup, I offered to help with the syncing work for this and the offer still stands. When you guys have it all figured out, just give me the source files, (including any potential audio that needs to be "restored" back into the mix) a reference track I'll be syncing everything to and I'll take it from thereWink

Personally, I would leave the video track "as-is" but since this is not my project and there may be those that have better suggestions, I'll leave that for someone else to chime in on.

I think doing the syncing first would be best. I'll supply you with the LD track and the BD track. The latter you can use as as reference and/or if you want to take a stab at restoring that missing line.

After watching your LD last night and paying close attention to the background noise, I suggest leaving it as-is. The amount of noise varies throughout the film and, quite frankly, it didn't bother me at all.

EDIT: Then again, including a separate "cleaned" track wouldn't require much more work after it's synced.

It actually doesnt bother me much either. If anything I actually think it suits the film better. So I think the best solution for right now would be syncing it as is and saving it that way. Once thats done, if we'd like as a bonus, we can have Leonardo or someone do a 'noise reduction' version if we want but I think preserving it unaltered, other than adjusting the syncing, is the way to go.

Ok, I'm a little confused... Are you talking about audio or video noise reduction?

If you are talking audio, then I can do that when I do the syncing work. (possible make two versions: one that's just a "straight" sync and a second that would be filtered for noise)

Either way, whenever you guys have the audio track ready for me, just PM me the link(s) and I'll take it from there.

I really like this film but am not super privy to all the changes made in the audio. The missing line that you mentioned is dubbed over with a thunder crack, is that on the LD, the BD, or would it be VHS sourced?
