If you need a higher quality copy of the Chace mix, I got a new Hi-Fi VHS capture of it. Should sound better than the LD analog.

I'm using the Chace from the French "unreleased" DVD prototype from TF1 Vidéo. According to Stamper, it's the cleanest.

VHS would have less compression, but that's fair enough

I don't have a Chace VHS, so maybe it's worth listening to it! But it's true that the DVD will have less problems like speed variations and it probably was a straight rip of the tape.

It never hurts to have extra sources, plus a hi-fi VHS track (provided there aren't excessive dropouts or tape damage) is going to give you much more latitiude when editing, adjusting speed etc.
Thanks given by: Stamper

That is simply just not the case, In my experience a Hi-Fi capture will almost certainly beat a lossy ac3 stereo track at average bitrate (typically 192kbps). As for noise, those issues are easily managed and once cleaned those VHS tracks are some seriously impressive stuff.

Likewise I haven't heard this French DVD, If you want I'd be willing to do a trade of sorts for it. Also should note I didn't not do the capture, it was done by Movie Man on Telegram.

As I recall, the French DVD is not AC3 but MPEG audio, and Stamper made the sync in PCM or FLAC. It sounds alright and the sync job is already done, so I only have to work on the surrounds accordingly.
