I'd be happy to see a no-politics rule added. I like the fact that, so far, the people who come here focus on our hobby. Much as I'm fond of ot.com, I don't want to see this place go the same way. I'm with PDB on that.

Because I can see when the snowball is heading downhill.

Its my job to maintain civility and decorum here and to make sure that people get along. And the first and best way to start a fight is any discussion about politics or religion. You have the right to express you views IcePrick and I respect that but that is not the point of this forum. The site is for movie projects and I ask that you please, as one human to another to try to keep it to that general area. I want people to be friends here and not have to fight the battle of politics that they do in real life. There is already enough division in the USA and the world.

There has been enough ugliness over the last few days, so on a personal level, I'd like this site to not head down the same dark path as every other damn site on the internet.

I'm respectfully asking you.

Apart from political beliefs... Am I the only one who thinks that this was a.. more dirty election campaign by both parties?
Sometimes it seemed more like "Vote for us, because the other one is even worse.".

And that is more a pity: worldwide politic seems to be more like "Vote us, because we say NO to..."
...but no real solutions are presented. Just hollow shouting of "NO!" and "WE ARE AGAINST...!".

And... it works... and THAT is a pity.

I don't want you bitter about this site. I respect your work IcePrick and I think out of that respect I have tried to contribute to your projects even if in a small way. That's the point of this site that Andrea created. Any project I have done is done with the help of many of the great and talented people here.

My point is I don't know anyone's political ideology here and I like it that way. I specifically don't read off topic on the OT so I can approach people as fellow movie (and/or Star Wars) lovers without other biases. We get to talk about movies and encoding and the stupid crap that is unencumbered by differences of the world. Sure there are plenty of fights, I'm guilty of that myself. But its about small things not the machine of the world.

I'm trying to stay away from a warm and fuzzy, "let's all hold hands vibe" but I think you will agree its nice to have a place without the larger ugliness of the world and politics. I'm trying to make sure our community sticks together.

I'm not sure why you (or someone else) re-instated the thread. I made the decision to delete it. But I don't really care either way.

I'm not mad at anyone here, nor am I bitter about this site. I was just expressing my anxiety about current world affairs in the off-topic subforum, and that's it.

I admit, I didn't really pay attention to your election campaigns, but does it really matter who won? None of the candidates looked like a person I would trust. If I was American, I don't believe it would make much of a difference (if any) in my life.

I don't care much about politics discussed in this section of the forum, it is called everything else after all, but if anyone thinks new rules (like no politics someone mentioned) should be made, feel free to start a thread/poll in suggestions.

A thousand times this!  I wish this thread had stayed deleted, and I'll start a new poll suggesting a no-politics/religion rule if I get round to it.  My suggestion would be for this sub-forum to be a "lounge" or some such in which people can chat about light-hearted topics.

I think it's time to delete this thread, and add some specific rule about politic, religion, etc. etc. etc.
Let the discussion take place somewhere else - OT OT subforum, for example...
Going to delete it in an hour or so, everyone agree?
