Some time last year NetFlix UK started streaming John Carpenter's Big Trouble In Little China (1986). As with Die Hard, the HD master was different to previous releases. It looks to be a new scan (possibly 4K) with different colour timing and a much darker tone. It has since stopped streaming on NetFlix UK but thankfully I capped it. Here it is!
Format: MKV 1080p (18.3GB), Blu Ray Compliant
Video Source: High Quality Web Stream, with 35mm grain plate to improve film look and mitigate compression artifacts
Audio Tracks (Source: Arrow UK Blu Ray release):
1. 2.0 Dolby Surround 24bit,48kHz PCM (From the Theatrical Dolby Stereo)
2. 5.1 DTS HD-Master Audio (From the Dolby 70mm 6-Track, Mono Surround)
3. Audio Commentary Featuring Director John Carpenter and Actor Kurt Russell
Available via mega download. PM me for links

Just remember what ol' Jack Burton does when the earth quakes, and the poison arrows fall from the sky, and the pillars of Heaven shake. Yeah, Jack Burton just looks that big ol' storm right square in the eye and he says, "Give me your best shot, pal ... I can take it.
Great movie awesome lines, thanks for the share!

Loving the darker tone and color timing of this release along with the slight extra info at the sides, thanks zoidberg. Hopefully this transfer comes to bluray shortly, this will be my go to version until then. You didn't happen to do the same with Die Hard did you, would love to see that to.

I've been looking all over for this - my recent Amazon video copy was noticeably too-bright in many scenes.

....It's different. Visually at least, the audio tracks are from the Arrow Blu.
The NetFlix cap is clearly a different source to the Blu. It's darker and looks to have been retimed compared to the Fox/Arrow Blus. It can be very sharp and detailed, unfortunately being NetFlix it's heavily compressed, the grain plate helps. I'd love to compare it to the DCP that's now available but it hasn't screened anywhere near me that I'm aware.
The links are still up and will stay up for the foreseeable. I would like to revisit this at some point, I recently got hold of the widescreen laserdisc which I will cap. It will be interesting to see if the LD timing is similar to the DVD/Blu. And of course the PCM

I will go to a 35mm screening tonight. Anything you guys want me to look for while watching it? A specific scene or color?

I'd like to know what colour the fight scene is in the alley when the storms first appear. Above all, enjoy! It's Miller time
