[Help] Help needed for acquiring and scanning Spider Man WTC trailer
#1
As suggested by spoRv, this thread is dedicated to trying to get a hold of the World Trade Center Spider Man trailer, as it has a scene/sequence found nowhere else, and scanning it.

First off, this is what we're talking about: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NGEyP_z4qWg (best quality version I've seen so far, found by spoRv - but still very mediocre)

Currently a German version is being sold: https://www.ebay.de/itm/Original-Kino-Tr...2560640139

I have contacted the seller and he agreed to wait with payment until next month, so I will be buying it. Ergo, please don't bid on it, or someone's money will be wasted.

Either way, in case someone outbids me (I'm not willing to go much higher than the base price), there's still the English one being sold by someone: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Spider-Man-2001...2819432461

Sadly, the price is insane ($300). If anyone has (or is) a rich uncle with a tendency to impulsive spending, this is for you. Big Grin  Or maybe enough people are interested to add something to the pot?

Though, my hope is to get the German one, which should be possible, as it's kind of a niche, despite the rarity.

In either case, scanning will be required. Is anyone here able and willing to do this? If I dish out 60 EUR for a trailer, my budget will be overextended anyway, so I sadly can't contribute much.

I could theoretically scan it frame by frame with my Reflecta ProScan 7200, but by my calculations, it would take me 2 weeks of non stop work without sleep, and frankly I'm not that disciplined or motivated. Nor do I have the hard drive space. Nor the patience to restart if I realize I've had some faulty settings.

Preferably, for the German one, someone in Europe should do the scanning, to keep the shipping costs in a reasonable range.

That's it so far.

I sent you a PM. To be honest I reckon you'd be better off waiting until a cheaper one comes up, there was one that sold here for example for $26:

Unless of course you're specifically after the German version in which case go right ahead.

With living in Germany the Trailer you linked is almost as pricey, as the German one, calculating shipping ($ 33 to Germany), while the German trailaer avaible is shipping about $ 3.5 (estimated) inside Germany.
Also, the one sold could have get more expensive due to bids. (Okay, the German one still could get, but I think US Trailers draw more attention) and then importing to Germany also could have getten the attention of tax/duty customs. So, could get 19% more expensive, and other hassles with German customs.

Yeah but you can get it scanned cheaply in the US there's no need to send to Germany. I do know of one German lab you could scan with, but my calculation is it would cost at least 32€ and you would likely have to supply a hard drive as well. However there is another option (in Europe) I suggested to TomArrow which would be lower cost and you wouldn't need to supply a HDD. By the way, the value of the trailer would be lower than customs threshold (which is 45€ for Germany IIRC).

By the way I think there is a trailer that has been scanned... we just need to figure out who owned it. However the one that may have been scanned was damaged and it may have been done on an inferior setup to what's available to us in the US now (basically on the old 2K setup I mean).

The customs threshold is 22 Euro.
After that the item price and the postage costs will be added to collect taxes (19%)

I am happy that a German version can be possibly preserved, and if there is already another scan, maybe they could be brought together to get a better, multilanguage version.

Edit:
Also we have the possibility to get the trailer now, with still a more reasonable price than atm. the us trailer would be... Maybe a English trailer can be acquired in the future to a lower price... But that is just a "maybe" ...

Well I'm hoping the German version isn't too different from the English one, aside from the title texts.

Though, if it HAS already been scanned and that one can be found, I am thinking I could let this one slide, as I don't exactly have money to throw out of the window, if you know what I mean.

So ... if by some magical means that one turns up within the next 10 hours, please let me know. Else I'm buying this. Big Grin

P.S. Thanks again for your PM Valeyard.

Oh fair enough, I just had a look it's 22€ for "goods" and 45€ for "gifts". There's no difference in my country between sending something here declared as goods or gifts, I guess that's why I didn't think about it.

The German customs are very aware of the "gifts" trick and it usually just results in you having to go to the customs office and explain everything and blah. At least that's my experience.

Yeah, also they sometimes are quite picky regarding rules of import.
First of all, if something seems to be bootleg or pirated it gets confiscated and destroyed. (Like "NIKE" Shoes...)
Then... a card game I backed at Kickstarter got sent back to sender, because "It is a Game, and it needs a valid German Age restiction symbol..."
...you read right: A CARD Game.

Additonal Info: I won the German auction (clarified with TomArrow, so no senseless outbidding here), and ordered Bank transaction. So maybe the seller sees the money tomorrow on his account and ships it, that it may arrive Saturday.
