Yeah the snowy stuff looks better on the 4K, I agree, but a lot of the rest doesn't. The bar and stuff, it's all greenish and the colors look ... "weak", whereas it looks more healthy on the BD.
UHD BD to BD?

Well, tungsten tends to look red (or rather orange), unless you color-correct the shit out of it or use a different white balance / filter gels etc.

I'm having a hard time deciding which one looks the best. The less contrasty look (top) or the more contrasty look (bottom)? Since this new transfer looks sometimes overexposed, depending on the scene, I likeĀ one more and then rather the other... I'm kinda leaning towards the more punchy contrasty look, but I risk losing details in the highlight in already very brightly exposed scenes.

You could always take the iTunes as a reference. I can provide it if you need it.

Just realised why my encodes were taking so long, ripbot decided to remove my resize option for whatever reason and just encoding non hdr 4k, encodes restarted with correct resize and now taking half the time.

iTunes / RipBot264 (hue 0, sat 1, bright -2, contr 0.9). I guess we can settle with that tweaking.
It pretty much looks exactly the same most of the time, and barely different the rest of the time. I even prefer the mayor skintone on the RipBot264 conversion. |
