UHD BD to BD?
I wouldn't be surprised if one more time the new master is in complete sync with its Blu-ray predecessors. If so, the PCM track synced to prior Blu-rays should be just fine with the new remaster. It includes the original 4.0 Dolby Surround in lossless dts HDMA anyway, so that should be the equivalent.

On a side note, I noticed that they fixed the French track which now has the helicopter sound effect in the opening credits and in the end. Both Blu-rays had muted helicopter there on the French dub.

Do you mean that as a general rule or specific to that movie/studio?

Because the Mummy 1 UHD is not in sync with the old BD, for example.

No, I'm talking about Predator here. It's not the only one, but yeah, that's clearly not a general rule.

probably because the Mummy is a brand new scan of 35mm elements, and they also remastered the audio in DTS:X

how does the audio sound on the UHD compared to the original BD version? is it a faithful mix, or did they water down the dynamics?

I haven't really compared them tbh. I also don't have the equipment to play object-based audio, so there's that.

Afraid not, there is a 10 frame difference at the beginning and not sure if there is any difference through the movie.

OK, then I'll investigate that in a couple of days, when my full movie encode will be done.

Yea, my very slow two pass took two days as well. Look forward to your findings on the PCM sync.

The plugin ripbot 1.23 uses for HDR to SDR conversion is DGHDRtoSDR 1.2 (DGTonemap). There have been numerous updates since this time and it is now on 1.8.

Hoping ripbot implements this update soon to see how it compares.

-417ms (10 frames) seems to appear in sync for the PCM 2.0 laserdisc sound. Await your findings Beber.
