Reports are coming in that the track labelled as "original mono audio" on the new Psycho UHD is just a folddown of the surround remix with new added sound effects and other issues.

Fortunately the mono audio on the German Turbine BD is the original and syncs perfectly to the UHD uncut version of the movie with a delay of +667ms.

signature version was the cut version with the uncut scenes appearing in the bonus features.

I'm sorry I'm not familiar with the history of the movie, and with the UHD release this is the first time I hear about an uncut version.

My calculations must have been just barely off because I got 672ms delay when I did my own original mono sync days ago. I did research to find that BD frames typically are 42ms long and I opened the new UHD Uncut version in a program to view it frame by frame and it has an additional 16 black frames before the start of Universal logo than the German Turbine Uncut BD. So 16 X 42=672. Looks like other factors made it barely off from my calculations, but thanx for the info.

Side note: If I'm honest I was skipping through the UHD after I did my 672ms delay and tbh there were a few parts where I thought I noticed it was barely (very, very barely noticeable) not perfectly in sync. So perhaps your timing is the key. I thought it was all in my head the other day.

Your timing makes sense as 16 extra frames would certainly make for a delay of 672ms. I got to my figure by comparing the timecodes of various matching frames across the two video sources. Throughout the movie the differences came in at either 667ms or 668ms.

The first I ever heard of an uncut version was a TV showing years after the laserdisc but to my knowledge, there was never an uncut version officially released on any format until the Turbine Blu-ray from Germany.

The mono from the german Blu-ray as been remuxed already in certain blu places.

There will be a replacement program with the correct track.

Yeah, Universal acknowledged the problem and will be sending replacement discs with the correct mono in the US and Canada.
