Eurovision Song Contest 2021
#1
Am I the only one who is following the Eurovision Song Contest 2021?

If not, let's talk about this here!

P.S. in relation to this, I strongly recommend to watch "Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga" - you can have quite some fun while understanding something about the contest.

The only reason for me to watch any of these incestuous award shows these days is to laugh at them. Big Grin I might just do it, thanks for the reminder.

I find them utterly boring. Last time I was even slightly excited was when Lordi won.

I've been watching the semi finals; Norway has been my favourite so far Smile

I'm following the contest since few years, and I must admit there were quite some boring and unispiring songs in the past, still I always found some of them interesting; in this last edition, I can say the really boring and/or unispiring and/or flat songs are very few, while there are more good ones - I'd say around 30/40%.

For example, the ones I like most are from:
Lithuania - "Discoteque"
Cyprus - "El Diablo"
Azerbaijan - "Mata Hari"
Ukraine - "Shum"
San Marino - "Adrenalina"
Daði og Gagnamagnið - "10 Years"
(in broadcasting order)
plus few others that I don't remember now.

Of course, as always, only IMHO.

What I never liked was that there were "friend countries" at the moment of final vote - for example Scandinavia, Benelux, ex-URSS etc. forming almost an alliance... it would be great to be honest and vote only for the best songs, but we are not living in an utopia, so it will remain only a dream.

After the semi-finals my favourites from this years contest would be (in non-perticular order)

- San Marino (Senhit & Flo Rida - Adrenalina)
- Switzerland (Gjons Tears - Tout l'univers)
- Iceland (Daði & Gagnamagnið - 10 Years)
- Norway (TIX - Fallen Angel)
- Finland (Blind Channel - Dark Side)

Haven't seen the full Big 5-performances though - France and Italy seem to have a good chance this year according to the bookmakers.
The German entry is definitely one of the worst, even here nobody knows why they picked that song. It's just terrible all over and deserves to be in the bottom 5. After seeing the short clip on the first semi it also seems he's running out of breath from all that crazy jumping around. Guess the song will become a self-fulfilling prophecy: I don't feel hate, I just feel sorry. Big Grin

You obviously haven't heard our one yet; James Newman for the UK is just awful. He's a charisma black hole and his song sounds like it belongs in a cheap second hand car advert.

Britain being awful at Eurovision is pretty much tradition by this point though.

Unbeliievable!

Italy won, France second, Switzerland third... and UK zero points...

IMHO UK's song is not that bad, surely better than others.
As well as other songs are better than the first three.

Obviously the guy from the UK came to party, not to win.

Loved how the scores made it seem like a head to head with Switzerland and France and Italy swoops in and takes the win.

Next year in Sanremo then! Toto Cotugno can stare at Gigliola Cinquetti's cleavage and misread the scores once more Smile

All I can say is that we have the hard work of the UK's ruling class to thank for that result. We truly earned our place in that line up.

Well done to Italy! I was routing for France by the end but Italy had a banger of a track!

I still firmly believe that Norway deserved more votes. Tix was channelling some big Jim Steinman energy!

Looking forward to next year!

Play Ya Ya Ding Ding!
