If you want to share your avisynth script, I'll give it a try, even if at so low bitrate, I don't know if it would improve the quality that much - I'm pretty sure merging two sources could lead to a better result, but I'm open to test both methods.

Not perfect, but good enough to overlay any subtitles in different languages, I guess... now I should find out a way to get forced subs with TSmuxer.
