It’s something that happens on some older transfers where either they didn’t do something right in the processing or it’s baked into the source they used. This still happens today with matrixed audio tracks. Basically it means the center dialog will either bleed slightly into the other channels or go wildly into the surround like this one does.
Stargate was a specific case of someone flipping the channels the wrong way around on the pcm. My copy is ok but I’ve been curious to find a defective one just to hear it.
It could be something out of phase in the transfer process I guess.
