Yeah, so about Dracula Restored... So, some good news and bad news...
The bad- the hard drive on which I was working completely crashed, and I have no idea if the data is recoverable. For now, it seems the project files are gone for good, along with my Help! project and a yet unannounced project that will likely remain forever unannounced. The testing BD ISO was also lost in the crash.
The good- I burned the BD ISO a few hours ago with no verification errors. It was intended to be a test disc, but is fantastic, save for one thing: in one of the fade-outs, a brief frame from the original subsequent scene is visible just as it turns to black. YMMV on how irritating it is, but the video quality is certainly superior to the original Restored Cut.
Keep in mind the commercial cut of the film had a flash frame during a fade too, in the form of the original title card!
I'll probably upload it to MEGA.
Ouch. Sorry to hear about that. Let us know about the developments on this. Hope you will recover everything.
About the title card, I hope it's usable with the actual BD and it's tempered opening credits. Where is it located on the retail BD ?
Ok. After re-watching (and listening the audio carefully) of The Invisible Man, I think each of the Universal movies have some over scrubbed audio and some elements are missing now because they've been taken as defaults (dirts or anything else). Does anybody knows if the audio on the LDs are uncompressed ? Because they may come handy in order to bring back some of those missing elements missing. If the HDTV unrestored files gets available here, that might be just as good. I'll stay away from the DVD because they might be too compressed to be useble (quality wise), but in the last resort they might be useful too.
Criss, what do you have (aside of the vhs) in your collection about the Uni Monsters (DVD, LD, prints, etc) ? BTW, Speaking of LDs, can you tell me more about those special LDs that were made out of the original nitrate negative transfers ? Are they the same than the Japanese LDs that you already have in your procession ?
Aluminum Falcon, can you check what is available on CG for the the Universal Monsters HDTV movies ?
Thanks to answer
