Any effort to explain the Republican attack is useless. Words can never justify the discrimination of millions. We must all seek an urgent and permanent solution to the problem.

Do I sense some sarcasm reading the Star Wars 8K commentary?

This whole thing... it's Paris all over again. Remember that? Remember the pain, shock and terror that last year's invasion of Paris left on us? It's back with a vengeance. And how!

The future is uncertain. At best, Trump could just be another run-of-the-mill Republican president, which would still be awful, but not apocalyptic. Regardless, many lives will be negatively affected by this. But even if he turns out to be the greatest president ever, it still wouldn't change the fact that people elected him based on his campaign built on bigotry and fascism, and having shown every indication of being completely and utterly incompetent as president. When the numbers were coming in, it felt like some kind of natural disaster was hitting the U.S., but then reality sinks in, and you realize that millions upon millions of people are consciously voting for him, because they agree with him and want to see him implement his racist and (arguably) unconstitutional promises. And that is way more scary.
As for the argument that this was a protest vote, this clip sums it up perfectly:

This is a bitter fight waiting to happen.
Guys (minus Feallan and spoRv since they are admins) please remember this is a site dedicated to movie projects. I'd like it to be a safe space from the politics of the world. If you want to discuss politics please go to one of the thousands of sites dedicated to what ever your particular political beliefs are. You can even go to the garbage dump that is OT's off topic politics thread (and I love the OT but the thread is monstrous). I was going to lock this thread from the get go since it is off topic but I gave it some time so people could vent their frustrations. Remember whatever your feelings we are untied by our love of movies and projects here. Don't make enemies out of friends. |
