It's still pretty neat. I didn't realise you could do that with layers.

I just rechecked, I did in fact get a bit fancy using the "Calculations" effect to apply luma in After Effects (because I added luma from separate color channels at different levels to recover highlights). So in fact I did not just flip the switch. I'm impressed. That guy back then knew what he was doing, too bad I can't remember any of it.

Just watched the House of Blue Leaves sequence and am stunned at how seamless taas007's results are. Truly incredible. Until the full Japanese cut gets a high-def release, this will be my go-to copy of the film.

Fantastic project as well. After seeing the color version in so low quality, it's nice to see this for a change. Could be used as a stepping stone in rebuilding the Whole Bloody Affair.
