The Amazon which maksnew has is pretty good though.

You could actually buy it Amazon fairly easily, in fact, here's the store-page. You just have to switch to the Italian version of the website (Amazon.it) and login like you normally would as though it's in America or wherever else you are. Just turn on Google Translate if necessary and you should be able to find your way around.

(Unless that's what you meant by "The Amazon which maksnew has is pretty good though" in which case I am just incredibly daft and apologize since I thought you were referring to the streaming version of it lol)

No, you were correct in the first instance, was referring to the bluray, as maksnew asked earlier in the thread if it was out there on the internet, was just trying to be helpful to a member who has been very helpful to me in the past. Re, the Amazon It info, yea, was aware that is an option, but personally waiting and hoping for a third party to list it on my local Amazon to avoid having to pay the international shipping and stung with bank currency fees, although the look of the package may tempt me if it doesn't appear shortly, says the one that already has numerous versions sitting on my shelf including both US Fox and UK Arrow. Will make do with the streaming version for now.

The remaster is shown on TCM in France, now. Doesn't matter, I guess, since the French and Italian Blu-rays have been released.

The encoding on the Italian bluray (Koch Media) definitely brings out the best in the transfer, and despite the criticisms on other forums in regards to aspect ratio geometry (oval bong, etc) and color timing, I personally prefer this transfer over the previous one in both respects, the darker teal color timing suits the film better than the overbright Arrow and the geometry isn't an issue for me (whether correct or not) and it affords extra negative info on the sides as a bonus (the new Mrs Doubtfire 4k remaster also has similar geometry and again affords extra info on the sides).

So a fair bit back I got my hands on Makesnew's Amazon rip of the new master and I do have to say, although I do love the reintroduction of some Cundey blues, I do agree with the Blu-Ray forums post by Shingster that "blacks are elevated to a grey goop". So after messing around more with white-balancing (made black and white points from an opening credit), I made a small test to fix that.

Shout announced at SDCC that they have Big Trouble in little China for release in the US:

I assume it would use the new master (Cue angry talk from Blu-ray.com)

I'm really happy with the Arrow release in all honesty. Even prefer the video transfer compared to this new 2K remaster. It's going to have be something extraordinary for me to double dip on this.

The Arrow release isn't bad but it definitely has the old master pink look to it. The newer master seems like it would be closer to theatrical timing. The only thing I wasn't totally sold on was some weaker black levels. Not holding my breath on Shout getting the new master.

One possibility that theoretically could occur would be that it is the 2K Euro master, but perhaps the grading may be tweaked depending who they get on board to "approve" of the release (though this may be a detriment knowing Dean Cundey's revisionism and whatnot). Whatever happens, I'm sure I'll at least be somewhat pleased.

I'd be concerned about Shout themselves doing any post work on the grade. Also their compression

As I mentioned previous the new master does seem to be a genuine effort to recreate the theatrical colour, although the result is typical of modern grading, ie orange/teal. Also in bringing up the blue the remaster killed the greens.

I do still think the 35/70mm timing can be restored to the old Fox/Arrow master and it is something I do think about working on
