[Retired] The Dark Knight (Regrade and Imax Restoration)
#41
Thanks for that Servo.

One thing and this is more about yellow and this has nothing to do with DK but you would find interesting. When Interstellar came out on BD some people complained about it yellow look. The film basically had a yellow tint throughout. Well turns out that was very theatrically accurate to the Imax 70mm print I saw and comparing it to the 35mm was no contest. The 35mm had an extremely yellow tint, far in excess of the BD, Imax 70mm and the Imax Laser I saw. So that yellow bias can come through projected but I do wonder if the film stock makes the difference.

(I took notes on Interstellar because of the DK mess)

This might seem silly... But would it be a totally unrealistic hope to pine after any 70mm IMAX prints... for this or other films (Skyfall in particular)?

I've always assumed that was out of the question, even more so than regular 5-perf 70mm. Aside from the logistics of it all, aside from the insane price a full print would fetch, there were so fewer prints that one going "missing" would surely be noticed and acted upon.

Unfortunately while the IMAX scenes from a 70mm IMAX print would be incredible, the regular 35mm footage would, I believe, still suffer from the DMR process inflicted upon it. Heck I'd be happy with the 35mm DCP.

So I will go over 25 GB to get everything I want in the MKV. I'm trying to finish up my 1st version so if you want me to include any additional soundtracks, now's the time to send them to me.

Sorry, I don't own this film in any shape or form. Can't provide an Italian track unfortunately.

If the movie is synced to the BluRay, I would assume that it would be easy to remux own mkv with the ohn BD Audio tracks, so it would be easier to get it only with one audio track, instead of getting the audio tracks to you, PDB, and then everybody has to download bigger packages. with Audio Tracks not really needed by everybody...

That's cool, thanks guys. I was just following up for spoRv. Like you said MrBrown that other tracks should sync.

Ok, an update. I'm pretty close to finished. The video is rendered and currently muxing. I tweaked the colors ever so slightly but they basically still look like the sample pics a few pages back. I was able to remove a great deal of EE:

for most of the picture. There is still some EE there because in some scenes the EE was cranked up so high that to remove it would eat into detail. But I think I got a good middle ground.

Basically, it ended up being about 25 Imax shots that I had to upscale. Hopefully the quality loss is not that noticeable. If wanted I can circle back and do the 2.35 version later.

The good news is that of the two tracks the first one is now the Cinema DTS track. I just want to thanks Jetrell Fo for finding the track and Chris_solo for all his hard working syncing it. It is greatly appreciated.
