Maybe you should try it, you can tweak all the presets, and their grain plates are just awesome you can pick between all kind of grain depending on the original stock (16mm, 35mm, Super 35...)

I was most impressed with how FilmConvert processes color, producing a very organic look. The grain tool is also not what I expected. Unlike other plugins I have used that simply overlay film grain, FilmConvert realistically models the amount of grain required for each color and exposure level in your image. This results in a very pleasing and organic look.
You can individually adjust the degree of color and grain applied to your clip using the percentage sliders. Along with the color-correction tools, this provides a fast way to match shots, or add just the grain of a film stock (and not the color shift) if desired. The plugin seems very responsive and renders fast.

Seems very nice! I wonder if something similar could be achieved with DaVinci Resolve free edition...

It works in Da Vinci. Will save you a lot of work, and since you work from digital footage from the Blu-ray, you might achieve the look you want without intensive color correcting on each shot.

Is this the same as your old release? Or just a repack? Cos I already got one version of this.

Nope, it is a new version, with colors even closer to the THX DVD, and one or two shots fixed... nothing extraordinarily different, as the old one was pretty good. Audio tracks are the same, apart few fixes here and there.

So, if you have a good download speed, go for it!

The Blu-Ray of this film's sequel has a 1984 horror documentary called Terror in the Aisles, which seems to have clips from 35mm prints:










Pretty blue, it looks like! Nowhere near as desaturated as the new restoration.

This was excellent. I bought the 35th anniversary edition last year and watched it (on Halloween) for the first time in about 15 years. Something felt off about it slightly and I think it must have been the colours because when I watched this it was exactly as I remembered it! I don't know if I'd ever heard the original mono mix either and thought it was fantastic. Great job. Looking forward to checking out some of your other releases.
