Laserdisc Preservation Project
#1
Simple preservation project, nothing fancy. Just digitalizing my Laserdisc collection for the masses Smile

Video captured through S-Video output on my PAL DVL-909 unit via StarTech USB3HDCAP to loseless HuffYUV codec using OBS 64-bit.
Audio captured through RCA/SPFID output via Asus Xonar Essence STX II using REAPER at 64-bit 192kHz (analog) WAV or 16-bit 44.1kHz (digital) WAV, after syncing rendered at 16-bit 48kHz with Ultra HQ resampling quality.
Most likely subtitles for most releases (English).

All releases will be released in AVCHD (DVD9) format, no menu.

For requests on next release, check my lddb profile - http://www.lddb.com/account/colek1

Current releases:
  • #1 - Police Story 2 警察故事續集 ( 1988 ) [G92F0316]
  • #2 - Dog Day Afternoon ( 1975 ) [1024]

Hi all! Long time no see.

I definitely have to vote for
Apocalypse Now (1979) [LV 2306-2WS]
Maybe only for PCM capture.

Apocalypse Now [LV2306-3WS] (1997) vs. various editions
http://forum.lddb.com/viewtopic.php?t=2369&p=32470

Apocalypse Now is best on the 1991 release in PCM. The later 5.1 LD and DVD/BDs aren’t the same.

Looking For:

Apocalypse Now Laserdisc: PCM/AC3 (Any and all Soundtracks from the myriad LD editions of AN)

I really hope some here have interest for sync it to BD.

Cheers!

Sadly I do not have it in my collection, I will keep my eye on auctions though.

I have a StarTech USB3HDCAP as well, and I've noticed it has a tendency to increase the contrast, resulting in clipped white and black levels. If you haven't already, check and adjust the brightness and contrast levels.

I've gone through your list, and here's a few I'm interested in.

NTSC
An American Werewolf in London [ID5239VE]
Primarily for the original mono mix, but the video might be interesting if it's open matte.

City Hunter [PCLP-00477]

Crime Story [11233 AS]
Don't know if it's true, but I've heard this version has extra footage.

Dragons Forever [D0038 C88]
For the original mono mix.

A Fish Called Wanda [4752-80]
For the original mono mix.

Full Contact [A148]

Hard Boiled [CC1397L]

Police Story 4: First Strike [ML 632]
This version is hard to come by. The Japanese DVD and Laserdisc don't sound great, so I'm curious about how the sound quality on this edition is.

Prison on Fire [A055]

Twinkle, Twinkle, Lucky Stars [MDA-002-US]

PAL
A Better Tomorrow [EE 1020]

Bullet in the Head [NF 22303-LD]

Are you using the modded drivers for the japanese device with same chip? They're not as buggy as the StarTech's ones.

I'd like the DiscoVision of The Blues Brothers. Oh, by the way, do you preserve all the logos and bumpers that your player can show?

I am doing full Laserdisc capture, not cutting out anything that plays before/after movie.

Capturing Dog Day Afternoon today - http://www.lddb.com/laserdisc/22610/1024...-Afternoon

Also decided to add simple disc printouts to my releases based on the ones that are on actual LDs.

Few months ago I capped the remixed Hero Story from Laserdiscs, I'm pretty sure these are not bit-perfect, but it gives you sample on how it sounds. Better than DVDs for sure.

Mei Ah Laserdisc only has analog track, mono, where L is Cantonese and R is Mandarin.
