Open Matte version of Blade Runner 2049. My God, it's already a stunning film, and I'm so happy this, out of so many modern films, is available in open matte. Every shot is like a painting. You could only really do that if you were Blade Runner ? Also the whole aesthetic has been pilfered wholesale by many movies since, it's nice to see BR itself show us it's iconic futuristic dystopia.

Watched Terrified (2017) last night. An enjoyable horror movie from Argentina. A bit short and lacking in the character department but the horrow elements are very solid.

The Matrix Quadrilogy (first widescreen 35mm+Cinema DTS, second and third open matte, fourth widescreen)

note: never thought it could be more than a trilogy few months ago... and now I could even believe in a fifth one!

Anyone - at least in this forum - should be aware of what happens in the first three movies, so I'll write nothing about the story, but only some personal thoughts; for all these three, this time I noticed some below-the-perfection CGI, because we are talking about a two decades old movies; but they were few and possibly pass unnoticed to untrained (or non-project makers) eyes...

The Matrix (1999)
Still a solid masterpiece; I like very much the 35mm colors and theatrical track!

The Matrix Reloaded/Revolutions (2003)
Put them together as I always thought of the two as first and second part of a longer movie.
Can't say I do not like them; sure, less than the first one, but I kind reconsidered them, maybe due to the fact I didn't watch both since years, and I worked too much on the first one. Still think too many useless kung-fu shots or overly intricated dialogs like with the Merovingian, but I could live with that.
A technical note: it's not true that it has green tint - in the sense that it's not regraded as green; instead, there are a lot of green elements on scenes inside the matrix, like walls, and of course near the end where it's a lot of CGI; but on real shots, there are no traces of green grading; the skin has proper color, and all the colors are appropriate; also Monica Bellucci (that I do not like particularly) was good.

The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
I didn't know what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the story was quite original - almost a meta-movie, but with a game inside the movie instead a movie inside another movie; the two stars are grown up but still up to the task; I missed the original Morpheus and I can't understand why Lawrence Fishburne was not in, but the new one was not that bad.
At the end, it's my second preferred one after the first of course, and followed by... dunno, should decide!

All in all, a good quadrilogy. Hint: watch it all one film after the other - 10 hours well spent! Wink

Watched "New Fist of Fury" (1976), directed by Lo Wei and starring Jackie Chan.

The action was suprisingly tense in this early Jackie Chan film, and while Lo Wei was trying to cash in on the success he had with Bruce Lee in Fist of Fury, the action isn't really attempting to copy Bruce Lee. The action is much more 70's kung fu based, without simply having Chan trying to recreate Bruce's iconic style as I was expecting.

The bad guys are unreasonably bad, and the good guys are forced to stop them, and that's all there is to it story wise. You could dig a little deeper, but not much, and it's certainly nothing we haven't seen before. But the choreography is suprisingly good, especially in the final third act. At 2 hours, the movie certainly ran for too long, and perhaps the 80 minute 1980's re-edit has better pacing. But I was surprised at how good the action was.

2/5 *

haha....this one is an everyday thing for us.  But only the shows with Charlie Sheen.  The Ashton Kutcher seasons are horrendous.
